چکیده

This paper presents a recently developed particle simulation code package PIFE-PIC, which is novel three-dimensional (3-D) parallel immersed finite element (IFE) particle-in-cell (PIC) model for simulations of plasma-material interactions. framework based on the nonhomogeneous electrostatic IFE-PIC algorithm, designed to handle complex interface conditions associated with irregular geometries using Cartesian mesh-based PIC. Three-dimensional domain decomposition utilized both field solver IFE and operations in PIC distribute computation among multiple processors. A orbital motion-limited (OML) sheath dielectric sphere stationary plasma carried out validate profile performance package. Furthermore, large-scale charging at lunar crater containing 2 million cells (10 FE/IFE cells) about 1 billion particles, running 20,000 steps 154 wall-clock hours, presented demonstrate high-performance computing capability PIFE-PIC.

An Immersed-finite-element Particle-in-cell Simulation Tool for Plasma Surface Interaction

A novel Immersed-Finite-Element Particle-in-Cell (IFE-PIC) simulation tool is presented in this paper for plasma surface interaction where charged plasma particles are represented by a number of simulation particles. The Particle-in-Cell (PIC) method is one of the major particle models for plasma simulation, which utilizes a huge number of simulation particles and hence provides a first-princip...

Parallel Higher-order Finite Element Method for Accurate Field Computations in Wakefield and Pic Simulations

Over the past years, SLAC’s Advanced Computations Department (ACD), under SciDAC sponsorship, has developed a suite of 3D (2D) parallel higher-order finite element (FE) codes, T3P (T2P) and Pic3P (Pic2P), aimed at accurate, large-scale simulation of wakefields and particle-field interactions in radio-frequency (RF) cavities of complex shape. The codes are built on the FE infrastructure that sup...

High-Fidelity RF Gun Simulations with the Parallel 3D Finite Element Particle-In-Cell Code Pic3P

SLAC’s Advanced Computations Department (ACD) has developed the first parallel Finite Element 3D Particle-In-Cell (PIC) code, Pic3P, for simulations of RF guns and other spacecharge dominated beam-cavity interactions. Pic3P solves the complete set of Maxwell-Lorentz equations and thus includes space charge, retardation and wakefield effects from first principles. Pic3P uses higher-order Finite ...
